Going Digital for Gender Justice

Live Graphic Facilitation for UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism in Cairo

In November 2018, I joined UN Women and the Arab League to support the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign in Cairo. This marked my first live digital graphic facilitation session, using an iPad to visually capture key messages and action points in real time.

Visualizing a Global Movement

Held between the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Human Rights Day, the campaign called for urgent action to end violence against women and girls. My visuals reflected the voices of advocates, artists, and changemakers—translating statistics, goals, and emotional stories into powerful digital illustrations.

The final graphics were shared widely, both online and on-site, amplifying the message with color, clarity, and urgency.

Why It Mattered

This project blended digital storytelling with live facilitation, pushing my practice into new territory while supporting a vital cause. It proved how real-time visuals—whether drawn by hand or screen—can drive awareness and spark change.
