Drawing Legal Change: Visualizing Gender Justice in the Arab Region
Workshop on Legal Reform for Youth & Volunteers | December 2018
To close the 16 Days of Activism campaign, I collaborated with UNFPA, UNDP in Arab States, and UN Women to visually support a workshop focused on gender justice and legal reform. The event brought together youth and volunteers working to advance equality through legal change across the region.
Bringing Law to Life
Using live digital illustration, I translated dense legal concepts—such as marital rape laws, equal pay, nationality rights, and personal status codes—into powerful, accessible visuals. Each piece sparked discussion and helped participants better understand the barriers and opportunities in local and regional legal systems.
The artwork covered 18 Arab countries, highlighting gaps and progress in gender-based protections through culturally resonant visual storytelling.
Why It Mattered
This project bridged the gap between legal language and lived experience. By transforming data and reform goals into human-centered visuals, I helped young advocates connect more deeply with the cause—and take that energy into their communities.
